• To help you make an informed decision about the right flooring for you we would like to discuss some of the considerations that should be at the fore front of your mind when judging which laminate flooring is right for your Jupiter home.
• The first thing to consider when picking your new laminate floor is the finish. Laminates come in many different finishes. For a dramatic country  look you might want to opt for a hand scraped finish. These laminate floors have a textured ridged surface as if the wood had been smoothed by hand with a plane. High Gloss floors have smooth shiny surface that can add a real sparkle to the room. They work best with woods like cherry and walnut. Most laminate floors some with a simple smooth finish, though many are subtly textured to reflect the feel or real wood grain.
• Another decision to make is thickness. Many manufacturers and retailers make a great deal of the thickness of their laminates, which ranges from 6mm to 15mm. Certainly thickness can be a benefit but it’s important to know when and why so as not to pay over the odds for a product that offers no real advantage. Thickness has 2 benefits. Firstly a thicker laminate will sit more easily and accommodate unevenness in your subfloor. If you have an old home or know that your subfloor is not a perfectly smooth surface then a thicker laminate might well be the right choice for you. Another benefit is noise dampening. Carpets are excellent natural dampeners but laminate conducts noise more readily. If your concerned about noise penetrating through from your second floor then thickness is an important factor.
• Warranties are also an important consideration. Many manufacturers offer long warranties’ on their products. 20 years to a life time is not unheard of. This is great and we’re glad to see manufacturers ready to stand behind the quality of their product. Having said that don’t be blown away by a lifetime warranty if the floor doesn’t suit your style. A lot of people never make use of these long warranties as they have moved, redesigned or simply forgot. So consider the likelihood a long warranty will be of value to you before basing your decision upon it.
